Printing duplicate voting cards
Published: 5 June 2026
When you take receipt of a voter’s vote, you must print out a duplicate voting card from Valid. Here are some instructions on how to do this. You can also send a duplicate voting card by email to a voter who has requested it.
Period for printing out duplicate voting cards
The menu for printing out duplicate voting cards is available from Monday 17 August 2026, the Monday after the right to vote qualification date (which is 30 days before election day).
It is not possible to print out duplicates of expatriate voting cards with details of individuals’ preliminary right to vote.
Print out duplicate voting cards during
vote reception
When you take receipt of voters’ votes, you must print out their duplicate voting cards if possible, rather than using an expatriate voting card. Only use an address card if you have no other option, to avoid the risk of it containing errors or being unreadable.
Sending duplicate voting cards to voters
You may also be contacted by voters who want a duplicate voting card to be sent to them so they can send a postal vote.
A voting card is not required in order for a postal vote to be accepted. However, if the voter includes their voting card, this facilitates delivery of their vote. You should therefore offer to provide the voter with a duplicate voting card, but also explain that it’s possible for them to send a postal vote without it. It’s important to avoid a situation where voters abstain from voting, or risk their postal vote arriving late because they’re waiting for a duplicate voter card.
Instructions: how to print out a duplicate
voting card

Sending a duplicate voting card to
an alternative address

- Enter the temporary address, then click on Spara (“Save”).
- Click on Öppna PDF (“Open pdf”) and then Ok.
- The temporary address will be printed on the duplicate voting card but will not be saved in the electoral register.
Sending duplicate voting cards by email
To email a duplicate voting card, follow these steps:
- Save the pdf to your computer.
- Email the pdf file as an attachment with instructions on how to print it (see example below).
- To ensure that you do not save personal data in breach of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), delete the pdf from your computer immediately after you have emailed it.
Instructions to paste into the email
Include this text in the email you send with the duplicate voting card: “Please find your voting card attached as a pdf file. You don’t need a voting card in order to vote. However, if you plan to send a postal vote from abroad, or vote early at a Swedish embassy or consulate, a voting card will facilitate transportation of your vote.
You should print the voting card on plain white A4 paper in portrait format. Check your print settings to make sure that the voting card has not been rotated or rescaled.”
